I want to update all of you on the meal madness. Unfortunately, the bf can't make it because, apparently, he's become enslaved to some relatives he's working for. To pay his bills, he agreed to work for some cousins in the San Diego area, watching over an elderly advanced-stage Alzheimer's patient. It isn't enough that the job is emotionally depleting, now said relatives want him to work everyday until the beginning of February. This means,meh can't make it this weekend,which is both good and bad. The good is I can hide out with a book. The bad is I have to force myself to be polite to sis and the family. He's not happy and I'm certainly not thrilled.
Interesting development this week. I met this rather nice gentleman from Manchester, England at the PLB Activities Center. He's a freelance writer and currently developing a really fascinating animation series. We went out yesterday evening and he indicated that he'd like to see me again. I'm quite sure how to handle this because he told me he knows an editor for The Guardian, a newspaper I just sent a cover letter and resume to, and I would love to write and architecture, historic preservation, urban planning and design column for them. So the question is do I see just for that purpose or more socially? I really detest the idea of prostituting myself like that and I love my bf. I'm not that attracted to the new guy. I don't know what to do. I need to think about this more because I've never been this situation. Help.
Quick vegetarian update: mom was really nice yesterday and made me a spinach "lasagna" for dinner tonight. I think once I reassured her about my decision, she seemed o.k with it. Either that or mom figured out that's it's better just go along with it.
