Hello Everyone:
I've got to really start paying attention to who I follow on Twitter. I was reading some tweets from this one musician I follow and it simply did not make any sense. I got the links to a couple of sound sharing sites and pictures, the other stuff from the recording studio, not so much. I think he's just being a tease. A tease with a sense of humor. Either that or he's been in the recording studio way too long. Anyway, I really got to be more selective of the people I follow. Speaking of teases, there is this woman sitting across from me eating a salad with a garlicky smelling dressing. The salad looks delicious and only reminds me that it's getting time to eat. O.K. it's Monday and I'm rambling. Focus, focus.
I applied for a position with the city of Beverly Hills in Community Development. It's assistant director's position that pays well and has benefits. It definitely sounds like something I'd be interested in. I've also started receiving job alerts for writer/editor positions. Some of those are definitely worth my time. I'm looking more for a steady full-time writer/editor position not freelance. Freelance work lacks the structured time I really need for work. I prefer to work in a creative, yet structured environment. Meaning, I like the idea of having a definite place to go at specific time. On my own and I get distracted or procrastinate. I also like deadlines. If I know that I have to have a task completed by a certain date and time, I'm good. Otherwise, again, I procrastinate or get distracted. In setting up my own blog, I have in a way created my own structured activity. I suppose that proves that I am capable of craving out time in my day to do something constructive. On the other hand, there are days when I'd rather do something else or other things get in the way. So if I have a way (one that provides me with a check preferably) to schedule my time and have specific tasks to do, I'm happy. Another thing I like in a work environment is a creative environment. My definition of a creative work environment is one where people are collaborating on a project. It's always interesting to hear and see what co-workers have to say about a job. Just sitting all day strapped to a computer is not my idea of stimulating work. Also, making nice to the general public all day makes me want to go home and get completely drunk every night. I like to interact with co-workers who are equally focused on a project as I am. I also need some time to myself to work out my own thoughts. So a nice mix of structure and creativity makes me a happy co-worker. That and a nice paycheck and benefits.
