Hi All:
Happy belated Mother's Day to all the moms and mom figures out there. Second, we're over 600 page views, hooray. Thanks to all of you out there, I can't do this without you. Is it over reach to try to go for 1,000 page views. I think we can do it. I'll keep sharing and you keep reading.
The weekend was pretty quiet. Yesterday, I went to see the movie Hitchcock. I think this was a slightly underrated movie about the making of Psycho and the relationship of Alfred Hitchcock and his wife/collaborator Alma. It was wickedly funny. I came to the conclusion that Psycho is the perfect movie for Mother's Day (lol). Speaking of psychos, mom's in full holiday prep mode. Tomorrow evening starts the Jewish holiday of Shavuout, of course mom has to cook enough to feed an army. The shopping and cooking are slightly more modest than Passover or the big holidays in the fall. Still the obsessing over the food is really a bit much. Today's obsession is over burnt chicken. Hey it happens deal with it. As usual, I'm in my duck and cover mode. Just to digress for a moment, I've come to the conclusion that the DD song "Hungry Like the Wolf" is haunting me. I'm sitting at my local coffee place talking to you and that song comes on over the speakers. At least it wasn't the live version complete with the wolf howl at the end.
Back to mom's obsessions. It seems that everyday she has a new obsession. Yesterday's thing had to do with a relative. I have an unmarried female cousin in Israel in her forties who recently reconnected with a teenage summer fling she met in France. They reconnected via Facebook and a few messages later, she was off to the South of France to spend some time with him. Now the fling wants the cousin to come back for an extended more serious visit. Quelle romantique non? Well mom was carrying on all day about it. It happens on the social media sites. I've heard of people reconnecting with lost loves, biological parents, long-lost friends, et cetera on the sms. I personally think it's nice that they found it each other. I hope it works out.
Speaking of true love, my true love is set to come over Wednesday for a big family holiday lunch. He's already met them and everyone gets on well. That's always nice. He especially loves my little nephew. Last year at my teenage nephew's Bar Mitzva, they were having a good time together. Maybe this luncheon might be tolerable after all.
