Weekend Catch Up

Hello Everyone:

It’s been a relatively quiet few days. Mostly, I’ve been trying to catch up on my sleep. I finally managed to do just that Friday and the weekend. I had a burst of energy Wednesday after I applied for an assistant editor job at a big name magazine.  Just to hedge my bet, I applied for a reporter job at the same magazine. Hopefully, I find more jobs like this. Working at a magazine sounds very attractive. The big name magazine also has a travel component to it so who knows. Anyway, I finally made that chocolate cake I wanted to make last week. It came out pretty good. The sponge was dense, no air pockets, moist. The glaze I used to finish it came out too grainy. I should’ve paid a little more attention to and stirred in the shortening I used. Regardless, it was quite tasty; even mum loved it. Next time, I make it with frosting. Mum wants me to bake something for the High Holidays. Speaking of which, it looks as if the Sometimes BF will have a challenging holiday this because it looks as if his mum is not going to be around much longer. I thought it might be a nice idea to invite him for a meal or two. I don’t think it’ll be an issue.  At least, his brothers will be with him.  He’ll be a wreck for a while but he’ll survive. It’s his last surviving parent so it’ll be super tough on him. Fortunately he has a good support system from his synagogue. I can be the supportive friend.
