Good Food

Hello Everyone:

Another tropical day in L.A.  The heat and humidity is getting too much.  Mum insisted on running three fans, one very noisy, all day and night, blowing dust everywhere.  This is messing with my allergies.  Thanks mum, really appreciate the daily headaches. The forecast calls for another two weeks of this miserable weather.  I cannot wait until winter.  I wish it was already October because it starts to finally get cooler.  In the meantime, I just have to put up with it.  Otherwise, my day has been going okay.  I posted the latest and greatest on the blog.  It's a nice piece on the late food critic Jonathan Gold.  He passed away ten days ago, from cancer.  For him, food wasn't just about eating, it was about the community that made it.  He spotlighted the places that would otherwise be overlooked by food snobs.  In this way, he showcased an L.A. that lived beneath the glitz and the glamour. This was the real L.A.  He'll be missed by one and all.  Food is something that has a unique way of bringing people together, regardless of circumstance.  Good food is good food and good food can be anywhere.  I've had great and bad meals in people's homes and at restaurants.  I never could understand the appeal of the posher places.  I suppose they serve a purpose--to impress the patrons and little else.  The small out of the way places are unpretentious and good food flourishes.  Speaking of food, dinner time
